Water To Water Heat Pumps
What is a heat pump?
A heat pump is a device which has the provision of heating as well as cooling. The heat pump use other sources and transfer heat form one medium to another. A heat pump is also popularly called the reverse of the refrigeration cycle. Generally the transfer of heat takes place from a low temperature source of heat to a high source. Some of the examples are Food refrigerators, Air conditioners, water chillers, freezers, Stirling, cryocollers etc. the heat pups are very efficient and they deliver a quality performance at a very nominal cost. The COP of the heat pumps is very good. The higher the efficiency the better is the quality of the product.
Water-to-water heat pumps
These types of pumps are typically single packed and are generally used for the indoor purposes. They are available different sizes from one to two tons. They are usually floored or they are mounted on a slab.
There is no availability of practical upper limit. Very large sizes of water to water pumps use centrifugal compressors. They have the capacity to produce nearly up to 130 degrees of hot water.
The pumps which has a size more than 10 tons and has over 130 degrees hot water is used for the industrial purposes not household purposes. They have very low operating costs. They are also known as heating-only units.
Adding of a water to water heat helps to reduce the size of the ground loop especially when the cooling is the serious load in the HVAC system.
These pumps help to save a lot of operational cost. In order to compare its efficiency with others a COP analysis is being done. COP helps to equal the energy amount produced divided by its put in energy. Water to water heat pump is more efficient as they have a higher COP, the higher the COP the more efficient the product.
