Patient preparation for nuclear medicines is essential before any process involving nuclear medicine is carried out. Nuclear Medicine is a branch of science that deals with radiations. It uses the radioactive materials for diagnosing as well as treating a number of diseases. It lets you know the cause of the problem depending on the functioning of the tissues, organs or the bones of your body.

Before performing nuclear medicine tests on you, the nuclear medicine technologist will tell you in detail the process involved in it. He will answer all your questions or queries that you have in your mind related to the nuclear medicines. The patient should not take any caffeinated or decaffeinated beverages like colas, tea, coffee, hot chocolate or any other soft drinks for 24 hours before and after the examination. You should not undergo any therapeutic phlebotomy for about 3-4 weeks. The person should be on empty-stomach, means he should not be given any food for a period of four hours before performing the tests.
