Due to the industrial revolution and globalization two extremely concerning issues have emerged, "Global Warming" and "Energy Crisis". To solve both of these problems, mankind has turned to the renewable resources.

One of the resources is the geothermal energy. The energy that exists inside the earth is known as the geothermal energy resources. This energy can be harnessed with the help of Geothermal Heat Pumps.

The geothermal Heat Pump does the job of transporting the vast amount of heat in the interior of the earth to the surface of the earth and use the heat to keep the buildings warm or cool as per the conditions. In cold countries the heat pumps use the earth as a source of heat. In the hot nations when the pump acts as a cooler the earth is used as a heat pit.

The three major components of the Geothermal heat Pump are the loop field, the liquid pump pack and lastly the water source pump. The loop field contains water which acts as a conductor of heat. There are different types of the loop fields.

An open loop field extracts water from a water source near by for example a well, lake etc. This extracted water is then pumped into the Geothermal heat Pump. This is where the heat is extracted or rejected. Then the water is let out again out of the pump and is either returned to the earth or returned to the same source of water.

This type of loop field is much simpler to build and operate. However it has some drawbacks. The biological factors in the algae, fish, organic debris, amphibians tend to affect the system. If the source of the water is very large and the load offered by the Geothermal Heat Exchange Pump is high then there are chances that the use of the pump causes thermal contamination. It means that the water will either become too hot or too cold for use. This kind of water cannot be used in the pump.
