Horizontal installed loop field is a type of loop field used in Geothermal heating systems. This heating system runs on principle that Upper ten feet of earth crust has constant temperature and that can easily used for heating systems. Geothermal heat pumps have three main components loop field system, liquid pump pack and water source heat pump.

Loop field system is one of the important components of geothermal system since it is the system which collects heat from earth crust. There are many different types of loop field systems are available Open and closed systems are main type of loop field system. Closed loop system is a commonly used system which has a fluid which circulated through loop pipes. There is no direct contact of flowing liquid and earth; heat transfer is done across the pipe. There are four sub types of Vertical loop field, horizontal loop field, horizontal loop field, slinky loop field and Pond loop field.

Horizontal loop field system is widely used loop field system. In this system closed pipes run horizontally on ground. For installing this system long horizontal trench is dug then U shaped coils are placed horizontally inside the trench. There are two more types of horizontal loop field you can say they are subtypes of horizontal loop field; Slinky closed loop field and closed pond loop field. In the Slinky closed loop field pipes are placed over each other this system is useful when is no adequate place for horizontal system this system is covered up soil. Closed pond system uses ponds for geothermal systems. On this pond loop coils of pipes are placed at bottom of pond or some other water reservoir. Pond loop system is similar to slinky pond system only difference is that this system is attached to a frame and is located is water; whereas slinky system is placed on soil.

When there is adequate land is available horizontal loop field system is very commonly used. This system can be used for both commercial and residential areas. This loop field system is very commonly used. This system has very low maintenance and environmental friendly.
