They will pass out through urine or stool.
Still, there are some hazards of nuclear medicine. Traveling after usage of nuclear medicine is dangerous. Hence, patients are advised not to travel for 3 hours after getting nuclear medicine treatment.
In some rare cases, people may feel side effects like vomiting, chest pain, itching, skin rash etc after going through the nuclear medicine course. However, these side effects will not remain for longer period.
The radiation dosage is very minute and hence it may not cause any severe effects. Nevertheless, in some small number of cases, it may affect. You should avoid contact with children for some hours after getting radiation. This will help to avoid exposing them to radiation.
Pregnant women should not take nuclear medicines. If you are planning to have a child, then also you should avoid nuclear medicine. The feeding mother also should not receive radiation. However, these risks are smaller than the risks associated with x-rays.
Though there are limited risks, you should not bring children to the nuclear medicine department to avoid unnecessary exposure.
If the doctor uses injection to insert radioactive compounds in your body, then it will cause slight discomfort. The compounds may cause short-lived side effects that can be cured by taking medication.
