Geothermal Heat Pumps

Finding alternative energy sources to meet the increasing demands by the mankind has become the need of the day. Man has ignored the many hidden power of the planet earth for too long. The unique quality to store heat is employed by the geothermal heat pump. A geothermal heat pump is nothing but a simple pump. However the thing that makes it unique or uncommon is that the pump uses the surface of the earth instead of the air to provide heating or cooling. The pump also uses natural and the renewable heat of the earth. In short it is a new device working on the renewable and long lasting source of energy. The Geo thermal heat pump can be used to cool ones home in the summer and can heat in winter.

The external surface of the earth experiences the constant change in temperature, however a few feet below the surface of the earth the temperature always remains constant. The range of this temperature is from about 7 degree Celsius to about 21 degree Celsius. This temperature is warmer that the temperature above the earths surface during the winter and cooler that the temperature above the earths surface during the summer. The Geothermal Heat Pump takes advantage of the geographical phenomenon by exchanging heat under the surface through a ground heat exchanger.

The three basic components of the geothermal heat exchanger are the loop field, liquid pump pack and the water source heat pump. The loop field does the job of transferring the heat to and from the surface of the earth. Generally the loop field has the capacity of one ton. The liquid pump pack pumps the water through the loop field and the water-source heat pump. The water-source heat pump is the replacement for the usual boiler or the furnace or it might also be your air-conditioner. The water-source pump is the place where the heat from the loop field is transferred to heat to cool your home. Heat pumps do the most important job of capturing the heat at one temperature reservoir and transferring it to another temperature reservoir.

The initial installation of the geothermal heat pump is costs about 10 000$. Factors like the geology, size of the house, location of the property influence the price.

The most amazing part of this is that the geothermal heat exchanger is that it is totally eco friendly, safe, simple, energy conserving and most important of all it helps us save about 400$-1400$ per year
