After the Industrial Revolution the demand for Carbon fuels suddenly rose as the demand for production expanded. However man has utilized the fuels like petroleum and coal thoughtlessly. The process of consumption produces compounds like Carbon Dioxide, Carbon Monoxide and many other compounds that are unwanted in the atmosphere. Due to the unwanted gases the atmospheric balance is disturbed.

To solve the issues of "global warming" and "Energy Crisis" man has turned to many renewable and inexhaustible energy resources.

The geothermal energy that exists under the surface of the earth is one such resource. Geothermal energy can be harnessed with the help of the Geothermal heat pump. The three components on which this technology works are the loop field, a liquid pump, and the water source hear pump.

The loop field contains water and many a times some other compounds that act as conductors of heat. The closed vertical loop field is the type of loop field that is used most commonly in the geothermal heat pump.

This system the fluid thought the loop field pipes. In this find of system there is no direct contact between the fluid and the earth. There is only the transfer of heat in between.

Even in the closed loop field there are four types. They are vertical, horizontal, slinky, and the pond types of loop field.

The vertical closed loop field compromises of vertical pipes that run into the round. A vertical hole is dug into the ground its depth is about 150 feet to about 250 feet. A U shaped loop is placed into the bore. The vertical type of loop field is generally used when there is a limited piece of land available.

The genuine advantage of this kind of loop field is that it occupies less space. The systems loop field however occupies a lot of space under ground. The small amount of electricity that is demanded increases little bit. In this type of loop field the replacement of the loop field becomes difficult. Construction of this kind of loop field is also bit difficult.
